Derek Bockheim, 18, of Grandville, Michigan, was driving his truck along a Blendon Township highway on June 30 when he witnessed an accident--a collision between a Lexus and a Jeep Wagoneer that set the Lexus on fire. He described his reaction to WZZM 13 News (Grand Rapids, Michigan): "All of a sudden, bam? These two cars collide and that's all I saw. Just the crash and once the smoke cleared I looked and there's this little girl lying on the ground. I seen that little girl lying on the ground I was like oh no? I just dead sprinted right to them."
After Derek carried the girl away from the burning Lexus sedan, he went back, braving the car's flames, and carried a baby boy to safety. He returned once more ...
