Airtel selects symmetryMX for WiMAX rollout across Cameroon
MONTREAL, CANADA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2008) - SR Telecom & Co. S.E.C, a leading supplier of WiMAX Forum-certified solutions, today announced it will provide Canada-based Airtel Telecom Group (ATG) with symmetryMX(TM) solutions to support the growing demands for carrier-class wireless services in Central and Western Africa.
Airtel plans to extend its WiMAX network rapidly by using SR Telecom's symmetryMX(TM) platform. This purchase will support the deployment of one hundred base stations throughout Cameroon, allowing the operator to offer premium triple-play services to enterprise and residential subscribers. The rollout is expected to begin in December, 2008 with a targeted completion of July, 2009.
