China A-shares close slightly lower on consolidation; airlines surge -UPDATE.

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - China A-shares closed slightly lower in a further consolidation after recent gains, although airlines surged following a drop in crude oil prices, dealers said.

Coal producers slumped, while oil refiners rose but were off their highs after crude oil tumbled 3.09 usd a barrel to settle at 127.95 usd on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed down 8.27 points or 0.29 pct at 2,837.85, after moving between 2,887.58 and 2,831.11.

Turnover fell slightly to 64.22 bln yuan from 65.13 bln yuan yesterday.
