AN award-winning Rotherham building firm and a Sheffield loans and mortgages business have gone into voluntary liquidation as the credit crunch starts to take a greater toll on some sectors in the region.

Kimberworth Park-based Chantry Builders was formed 21 years ago and had won awards for health and safety, commitment to the community, enhancing the environment and protecting architectural heritage in recent years.

Only last year it won a prestigious Green Apple Award for the way it converted a Victorian mock-Jacobean mansion on Moorgate Road, Rotherham into the headquarters of the National Metals Technology Centre. …
