As I approach the exciting age of 50, I could get depressed. Or, I could look for the positive side of the aging process. Since I work full time with hospice patients, I realize that every day is a gift! Thank goodness for our sense of humor, because it helps us laugh at ourselves. Even though many researchers are exploring the physical benefits of humor, has anyone studied the correlation between humor and longevity? (Maybe one of our readers could use this as a future study!)

Just think about George Burns who lived to be 100. When I saw him perform at age 96, he walked out on stage with his cane. There was a chair next to the microphone. His first words were, "I used to be a stand up comedian. Now, I am a sit down comedian." Everyone roared with laughter!
