NEW ORLEANS -- Medicare will likely be adopting a more balanced view of benign and malignant dermatologic lesions next year, at least in terms of paying for their removal, Emily Hill said at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services used to pay more for removing malignant lesions than for benign ones, said Ms. Hill, president of Hill and Associates, a Wilmington, N.C., consulting firm that specializes in coding issues.
