NEW YORK -- A year after he introduced the novel technique of follicular unit extraction for hair transplantation, Dr. William R. Rassman said that it cannot currently be considered a substitute for strip excision in obtaining donor hairs.
The current primary application for the technique in his practice is for repair of donor area scarring, he said at the annual meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
