"The bugs have gotten into my refrigerator," said Harriet, with a sheepish, sweet-old-lady smile.
From her purse she withdrew the expected plastic bag. Inside was a perfect ear of yellow corn.
"This is an ear of corn," I observed.
"It looks just like one, doesn't it?" she said.
Later I called her referring psychiatrist. "Your patient has delusions of parasitosis," I said.
"I know," he said.
"Then why did you need my opinion?"
"The hospital staff here wouldn't believe me until a dermatologist made the diagnosis," he said.
