Tesco swept the board at this week's OLN Drinks Retailing Awards, winning five of the 17 gongs, including Supermarket of the Year.
The grocery giant also scooped awards for Online/Direct Sales Retailer of the Year, Best Customer Magazine/Website of the Year, Drinks Buying Team of the Year and Multiple Wine Retailer of the Year. Last year Tesco undertook a massive category overhaul, bringing more than 370 new wines into its range.
Head of BWS Dan Jago said he was "over the moon" with the accolades and praised his 25-strong team for their "incredible hard work". He said: "We're absolutely delighted. To win one or two would have been fantastic but to have five across such a broad area is amazing.
"It does go to show that helping customers understand the proposition better pays off. We're facing a much tougher environment in terms of customer spend . You've got to offer customers great value and there's an opportunity to encourage them to understand what value means."
