l Highland Spring chief executive Joe Beeston OBE has died. Beeston, who joined the Perthshire-based company in 1992, died in hospital on Feb 25 surrounded by family following a battle with lung cancer. Beeston was awarded an OBE for services to the soft drinks industry in Scotland in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2005. Les Montgomery, acting chief executive, said: "He was a much-loved boss who was passionate about Highland Spring and totally committed to the wellbeing of the staff in Blackford." l Gallaher is launching a menthol variant of its Sterling cigarettes. Sterling Superkings Menthol 10s will be available in the off-trade from March.
