England succumbed to South Africa in a pulsating climax to the Rugby World Cup 2007. A tournament full of outstanding performances and upsets closed with South Africa prevailing 15-6 against a rejuvenated England, who had scraped through in another brave performance against France in the semi-final. A disputed try against the South Africans seemed to change the game, but overall no England fan could complain that South Africa were not the strongest team in the tournament .
