Teenagers threaten assistant A teenager threw a bottle of wine at a shop assistant's head before stealing alcohol from the store. The youth, who is thought to be about 15, entered the Threshers in Basingstoke with three others on Oct 14 at about 3.30pm. They grabbed four bottles of wine and a box of lager before shouting abuse at the female member of staff and running off. Basingstoke PC Kate Towerton said: "Fortunately, the shop assistant was not injured, but she was left badly shaken by the incident and the verbal abuse which was directed at her." Test purchase failures A 14-year old girl was sold alcohol by a 14-year-old boy at a branch of The Local in Bournemouth, Dorset. The shop managed to avoid temporary closure after Dorset Police took the case to Bournemouth's licensing committee, but has agreed to stricter conditions on its licence, including a ban on staff under 18 selling alcohol, even with permission from supervisors. The committee heard two other cases following summer test purchase failures. Wallisdown News in Wallisdown Road had a 31-day ban imposed and Isbir, of Wimborne Road, had strict licence conditions added.
