l The Dalmore 1974 and Jura 1974 will join the Whyte & Mackay 40 Year Old and the Dalmore 40 Year Old to complete the Rare and Prestige collection o f whiskies. Only 220 bottles of The Dalmore 1974 will go into the UK, priced AGBP599 in a black leather box featuring a metal stag's head. The Jura 1974 has a price tag of AGBP499 and comes in an antique hinged box with gold lettering. Both releases have a signed certificate of authenticity from master distiller Richard Paterson.
l Spirits producer Old St Andrews has begun a push for gin brand Pink 47 in the off-trade after winning a hat-trick of awards. The premium London dry gin, which has an abv of 47%, will be on shelves in Tesco this month after winning top UK spirit in the Tesco 2008 Drinks Awards. The brand, which has an rrp of AGBP19 and is expected to appeal to women, also won a silver medal in the International Spirits Challenge 2007 and was commended in the Bartenders Challenge 2007.
