More than 150 New Zealand producers will be showing some 650 wines at the annual trade tasting, now in its 27th year. This year the London tasting will be limited to one day and there will be themed "walk-through" tables of Chardonnay, Syrah, red blends and Sauvignon Blanc - the last showing the different regional styles signature grape variet ies can produce. New Zealand Winegrowers has teamed up with Malaysian restaurant Suka to offer food matches for the themed tables.
Stratford's Wine Agencies is launching the Distant Land range from Lincoln Vineyards. The AGBP7.99-AGBP12.99 range sources grapes from Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Marlborough, and includes a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Marlborough Pinot Noir 2006 and Gisborne GewArztraminer 2007. The agency is also showing wines from Cable Bay Vineyards in Waiheke Island. The AGBP8.99-AGBP14.99 Cable Bay range includes Waiheke Island Chardonnay 2006, showing for the first time in the UK, and the AGBP7.99 Culley range will show its Chardonnay 2007 and Pinot Noir 2007 for the first time here.
Liberty Wines is showing new wines from Central Otago's Wild Earth, Matt Thomson's Marlborough-based Delta, Tinpot Hut and Kim Crawford - including Wild Earth's Riesling 2006, Tinpot Hut's Hawkes Bay Syrah and Kim Crawford's Patutahi SP Gisborne GewArztraminer 2006.
Charles Hawkins is launching Waimea Estates' Spinyback range of ultra-premium Nelson Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Money from sales goes to saving the New Zealand spinyback (Tuatara), a reptile said to be the last living link to dinosaurs.
Ellis of Richmond is showing wines from Central Otago's Bald Hills at the annual trade tasting for the first time. It is also launching a Pinot Noir rosA from Mount Difficulty in Bannockburn (AGBP11.50) and showing wines from Wairau River Wines and Astrolabe.
Marlborough-based Winegrowers of Ara is releasing its first premium tier wine, AResolute Pinot Noir 2005 (AGBP20), as well as Composite Pinot Noir 2006 (AGBP12.99), the partner to its Composite Pinot Blanc, first shown at last year's tasting. The wine is targeted at independents and is distributed by PLB. PLB will also be showing wines from its first New Zealand brand, Riversdale (AGBP6.99), including a Pinot Noir RosA 2006 and a Sauvignon Blanc 2006.
