A firm set up by a husband and wife has been bought by an expanding North Yorkshire circuit board manufacturer.

MI Watson (Electric), which was started by husband-and-wife team Ian and Stella Watson, in Coalville, in 1978, was acquired by Kelan Circuits for an undisclosed sum.

The factory, based in Waterworks Road, Coalville, has been closed, with equipment and other assets moved to Kelan Circuits' base in Boroughbridge.

Mr Watson, 66, has been retained for a year by the new owner to provide product advice.

At its peak, MI Watson employed eight people, but in recent years this was reduced to Mr and Mrs Watson and a third family member.

The company supplied electric motor parts for cranes, forklifts and other machinery.
