Hull City were keeping their options open today as they stepped up their pursuit of GBP7m target Fraizer Campbell.
The Tigers have until midnight to complete what would be a club record deal for the 20-year-old Manchester United striker.
It is believed City's offer has been accepted and terms agreed, but with Sir Alex Ferguson unwilling to sell unless he snares Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov, City have been considering other candidates.
The Mail understands the Tigers were looking to bring in two out of three striking targets before close of play today.
Second on the wish-list to Campbell was Rangers hitman Daniel Cousin, who scored against Celtic in yesterday's 4-2 Old Firm win.
City were hoping to bring him in on a season-long loan deal.
