Dean Windass says he "nearly fell off his chair" after being told he wasn't in the Hull City starting line-up for Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Wigan.
The 39-year-old fans' favourite is determined to earn his first start of the season in the Premier League.
And while he was respectful of manager Phil Brown's team selection, he questioned the reasoning behind him being on the bench again.
"I was gutted on Friday, I nearly fell off my chair when Phil Brown picked the team because I thought I would have played," Windass said.
"That's the manager's choice. I want to be a manager one day and I'll have to make decisions.
