Detectives are hunting the killer of a man found brutally murdered in his home in Hull.
The gruesome discovery was made at a house in Charing Close, off Louis Street, west Hull, late on Saturday afternoon.
Officers forced their way into the property after a friend contacted police as he was concerned for the whereabouts of the man.
A murder inquiry was officially launched at around lunchtime yesterday.
The search for the murder weapon has now begun and officers have been speaking to neighbours.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oliver, the man leading the inquiry, said: "The victim has suffered a sustained and brutal attack.
