Two adventurous travellers have returned home after a five-month tour of Europe and Asia on a big red double-decker bus.

Dan Spokes and Matthew Lumber had an emotional reunion with family and friends at the Sea Walls on Clifton Down yesterday after their 20,000 mile journey.

In April, the duo set off in an old 1981 Bristol VR passenger bus, which they had spent five years converting into a home on wheels.

Since then they have travelled through France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Russia and Turkey before heading home via the Article Circle.

They passed 20,000 miles just two days ago, before stopping off for a celebratory meal in the French port of Calais on Saturday night and arriving back in Bristol at 6pm yesterday. Their route had also taken them through some of the world's potential flashpoints, such as Iran and Georgia.

Matt, 29, from Thornbury, was greeted by his dad Tim, 57, and mum Gina, 56, as well as his girlfriend Mandy Rossiter, 24, from Horfield.
