Bristol International Airport has recently massively expanded its security search area for passengers checking in - but what's the point if the staff are more interested in chatting with each other than actually focusing on the job? On Wednesday night, I passed through Bristol airport to catch a flight to Dublin and was impressed initially to see so many new X-ray scanners and staff.

But my faith in Bristol airport's ability to keep us safe from terrorists took a battering as my own bag passed through the X-ray machine.

For a start, the security official monitoring the X-ray screen was gossiping with a colleague and totally ignoring the screen in front of her.
