Exports pump up West Coast container volume.

Another month of double-digit export growth helped West Coast ports in July to pull nearly even with containerized cargo volume in 2007.

Exports surged 18.5 percent in July compared to the same month a year ago. Containerized exports in the first seven months of the year are up 17.4 percent compared to the previous-year period, according to figures published on the Pacific Maritime Association Web site.

Imports, meanwhile, continued to languish. Containerized imports declined 9.8 percent in July and 8.8 …
