In HBO's True Blood, Anna Paquin plays a Southern waitress charmed by a vampire called Bill.
Anna Paquin, who won an Oscar at eleven for her performance in The Piano, brings cheery valor and fairy-girl wispiness to her starring role as Sookie Stackhouse, a bar waitress who can hear people's thoughts and gets a crush on a vampire named Bill, in HBO's True Blood . Set in fictional Bon Temps, Louisiana, and based on novels by Charlaine Harris, it's written and produced by Alan Ball, the gifted creator of Six Feet Under. If the series sticks to the books, Sookie will become involved with a shape-shifter and a werewolf. It's sort of a backwoods Oz, with sex.
