The two designers of new luxury-handbag line Stanton Maxwell like to say they're creating heirlooms for modern times. The four styles launching this fall certainly have an old-fashioned quality that comes from artisanal craftsmanship, the best buttery leathers sourced from Italy, and designs free of flashy hardware. SM bags are "about evolution, not revolution," says designer Darren Greenblatt. (Indeed, the top-handle totes recall last year's much-coveted YSL flap bag but without the branding.)
