Women who love Sari Gueron's consistently pretty cocktail dresses will be happy to hear that she's launching a new line. Sari, as it's called, focuses on daywear and is delightfully price-friendly, cheaper even than today's contemporary collections, with dresses that cost $445 tops. "This is not my high-end line made more affordable," says Gueron, browsing through a rack of her grunge-inspired fall offerings--polka-dot separates, elephant-print tees, shrunken knits, and plaid shifts, all of which are easy to imagine on college undergrads and young professionals. "It's not the runway cocktail dress in a different fabric," she continues, throwing a black snap-on smock over what she's already wearing (cropped men's pants, a button-down shirt, Converse sneakers). "See, it's day. It's cute, comfortable."
