Has anyone ever tried to convince you to change your hair? It's funny that Didier [Malige] is doing my hair for this shoot, because right when I started modeling, I got offered this job for Italian Vogue with Patrick Demarchelier in Rome. They told my agency that they wanted to cut my hair, and my agency didn't want them to, because they felt
long hair was part of my look. [Italian Vogue ] said fine--but they had every intention of cutting my hair anyway. When we got to Rome, Didier gave me a "trim" that involved cutting off my entire ponytail and then dyeing my hair orange. I looked like Annie Lennox.
How did that feel? I couldn't look at myself. It truly traumatized me.
Do you still get pressured to change it? I don't get that pressure at all anymore because now I'm known for a certain look. The big hair. Boobs. The mole. That kind of sexy girl next door. If I showed up with a Vidal Sassoon precision cut like Linda Evangelista, ...
