TAIPEI, Sep 1 Asia Pulse A Taiwan Council of Agriculture (COA) official reiterated Thursday that the minimum price restrictions on rice exports will help reduce export volume and ensure sufficient domestic supplies.
COA Chairman Chen Wu-hsiung made the remarks to explain a decision taken by the COA in April to impose a price floor of US$1,200 per ton for exported rice.
Taiwanese rice has gained more opportunities for export recently due to its relatively stable prices compared with international rice price hikes, according to Yu Sheng-feng, deputy director-general of the COA's Agriculture and Food Agency.
