NEW DELHI, Sep 1 Asia Pulse - India's Petroleum Minister Murli Deora on Friday launched the modernisation project of Tajikistan's Varzob-1 hydro power station, the contract for which is being executed by state run BHEL and NHPC.
Tajikistan's 1st Deputy Minister of Energy Mukhidinov Pulot Mukhidinovich was by Deora's side at the launch, an official release said here.
The MoU for the modernisation of Varzob-I was signed between Ministry of Energy and Industry of Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dushanbe in August 2007 and the Government of India has provided a grant of USD 17 million for implementing this project.
