Maple Chase has recalled 280,000 FireX branded 10000 series carbon monoxide (CO) and 12000 series CO/smoke combination alarms because they give misleading signals.

The alarms can sound a "double chirp"/fault alarm if they sense CO, before going into the real alarm mode. But the owner's manual tells you to take the alarm out of service if you hear a double chirp and it persists after you hit reset. If you follow those directions, you could be left exposed to hazardous levels of CO.
