I was disappointed when "GPS Navigators" (June 2008) had no mention of how to keep the preloaded maps current. Are subscriptions required? Or are updates free for the downloading?
JOSEPH LICHTENBERT HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL Map updates can be free, but they most often cost $60 to $140, depending on the manufacturer and area of coverage. Unless you drive in an area with a lot of new construction or businesses, you probably won't need to update maps more than once every few years.
