The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) issued a report finding that roughly 5% of youth ages 12 to 25 have used a non-prescription cough/cold medicine to get high at least once in their lifetimes. This rate is comparable to use of LSD in this age group, and more than that reported for methamphetamine.
