Music Treasure Hunters, created by Brenda Knowis, is an engaging and interactive educational music game designed for use with students in grades three through six. Players answer questions in each of three cleverly named categories (Music Term Marsh, Instrument Island and Composer Creek) and move along the path towards the treasure with each correct answer. The box includes a colorful pirate-themed game board, eight playing pieces, a die and 50 question/answer cards in each of two levels: easier (Level A) and more advanced (Level B). Traditional game play rules apply: players roll the die, move the appropriate number of spaces on the board and then answer a question corresponding to the space on which they land. Designed for up to eight players or teams, the first to reach the treasure at the end of the game board is declared the winner.
The question/answer cards pertain to a broad array of music-related material. Music Term Marsh questions cover meter, clefs, note values, tempo, dynamics and other basic musical terms. Instrument Island questions deal with instrument families, basic facts about construction (number of strings, valves, reeds and so forth), size, relative range (higher or lower than ...), and basic playing techniques (plucked, ...
