Recent visitors to the MTNA websites will notice a growing collection of new resources to support communities. Discussion boards have been implemented in several areas of the MTNA site to provide a means of connecting teachers with one another. The discussion boards are an important means of sharing new thoughts and ideas throughout the association.
What is a discussion board? A discussion board is a web-based program that allows a user to post a question or thought as a topic and then lists the replies in chronological order. Visitors to MTNA's site at www.mma.org will be able to browse the topics and ideas posted by members, browse responses and then post their own response, if desired. Discussion boards are sometimes called forums, but MTNA chooses to refer to these dynamic conversation areas as discussion boards to avoid confusion with the official MTNA Forums such as Arts Advocacy and Awareness, College Faculty and so on.
There are several places on the main MTNA website where you can find links to the discussion boards. The MTNA Virtual Collegiate Chapter Initiative is just one area of the website where you can find a discussion board. Other conversations can be found by choosing "Programs" from the main menu bar and then selecting "Forums." Each of the MTNA Forums has its own discussion area and a list of these boards is on the main forums page.
First-time users of the discussion boards will need to create a login and password. This is easily done on the home page of the MTNA site. For more information and to download a step-by-step handout for using the discussion boards, visit the MTNA website.
