Machine shop owner Joseph Lord of Vienna, Maine, had $3,000 worth of scrap metal stolen from his shop on the weekend of June 1. In discovering his loss, it immediately occurred to Lord that the thieves would likely be back because they hadn't managed to take all of the scrap metal, so he began a vigil, guarding his shop until the thieves returned.
After almost 56 sleepless hours, Lord decided to take a short nap, but upon lying down, found he couldn't sleep because he was worried the thieves would return. He walked back to his shop and saw that, sure enough, the thieves had returned. They had about "450 pounds of scrap metal in [their] truck's bed," according to the Kennebec Journal.
