HANOI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - The General Statistics Office says the country's electronic goods and computer components exports hit US$1.44 billion in seven months, a year-on-year increase of 29 per cent.
The electronics export turnover has increased sharply in recent years, from US$166 million in 2002 to US$2.15 billion in 2007. It is estimated to reach US$3 billion at the end of this year.
Vietnam's electronic goods and computer components are being exported to 40 countries and territories around the world, especially to the EU market.
Exports to the EU market reached nearly US$170 million in the first five months of this year, increasing 38.6 per cent against the same period last year and holding 17 per cent of the country's total export turnover.
Other markets such as Thailand, Japan and China also saw high growth rate of the products export turnover.
