TAIPEI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Five more regional Chinese media outlets will be allowed to post journalists in Taiwan, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) announced Thursday.
The new measure follows the council's lifting of a ban in late June on the posting of correspondents from the two foremost Chinese national news organizations -- the Xinhua news agency and the People's Daily newspaper.
MAC Vice Chairman Liu Te-shun said the Cabinet-level MAC has already begun accepting applications from prospective regional media outlets from all over China, with a Sept. 30 application deadline.
The new measure, Liu said, will allow Chinese journalists to stay for up to three months per visit.
