TAIPEI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Athletes from around the world, including those from Taiwan, will be able to enjoy Taiwanese fruit at the Beijing Olympics, thanks to a free fruit transport service provided by Air Macau.
According to an Air Macau executive, his company began the service July 28 and will continue it until Sept. 12 -- two days prior to the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.
Air Macau plans to transport locally grown pineapples, guavas, mangoes and star fruit -- the four most popular fruits in Taiwan -- to China, where they have been recommended by the International Olympic Committee for the athletes competing in the world's most prominent sports event, among some 500 kinds of fruit from around the globe.
