Lightbulbs were hot when we reported on them in August 1965. The Federal Trade Commission was looking into whether lack of full disclosure on lightbulb labels and in ads might constitute a deceptive or misleading sales practice. Some consumers said their bulbs were burning out faster than usual and suspected manufacturers of seeking to boost sales.
