Lone Star College-Montgomery instructor Yuying Liu has been awarded the first teaching certificate in Chinese from the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. The board is responsible for ensuring that educators are qualified to serve in the Texas public school system. Liu--who pioneered the Chinese language program at two of the college system's campuses last fall--said she is honored to be chosen to pave the way for those pursuing certification to teach Chinese in Texas schools.
