Fantasy illustration.(Current and coming)(Flights into Fantasy: The Kendra and Allan Daniel Collection of Children's Illustration)
The rich and engaging field of children's book illustration has become an increasingly popular subject for publications, exhibitions, and even entire museums. The most recent example is Flights into Fantasy: The Kendra and Allan Daniel Collection of Children's Illustration, an exhibition on view through October 26 at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts, which opened in 2002. The Daniels began collecting some twenty-five years ago, focusing on images of fantasy for children by many of the best illustrators working in Europe and the United States during the golden age of children's book publishing--from about 1880 to 1940.

Of particular interest are the illustrations of fairies and the fantasy kingdoms they inhabit.
