Sarasota YMCA's leader to retire CEO says foster care report had no bearing.

Weinrich said his retirement does not directly relate to a report from a state review team seven months ago that found he and his management team bullied the same foster care agencies that were supposed to be their community partners.

But he said his departure makes sense for the YMCA as it deals with uncertainty about whether the agency will keep a $22 million state contract to provide foster care in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties. The contract ends in December but is expected to be extended to July 2009.

Weinrich is scheduled to retire on July 5, 2009.
