Dear Luna,
I'm new to the magazine, and I just read your "Coming of Age" issue (January/February 2008). In my family, all of the girls have themed parties at ages 13, 14, or 15. My party was last year, and my theme was books (since I love to read!). All of my aunts and some of my cousins gave me books that have a girl as the main character.
Also, my friend and I are creating a magazine about inner beauty. It promotes self-confidence, and discourages diets. Our belief is that everyone is beautiful, and that no one should feel bad about how they look or what they weigh.
I get really annoyed with photos of models and celebrities who are stick-thin. I was looking at a magazine cover that had the headline, "Stop calling me fat!" Underneath that, it said, "Celebrity fights back." But the picture of the female celebrity didn't look fat at all!
