You know you're stepping back in time when someone recalls the Pittsburgh Street Railroad was the predecessor to the Pittway Corp. And that moment is even more memorable when the comment comes straight from the lips of Leo Guthart, former chairman of ADEMCO Security Group and vice chairman of Pittway.

Reminiscence became reality at the grand opening of the ADEMCO Alarm Security Museum sponsored by Honeywell in Melville, N.Y. It's the first dedicated stationary museum for the burglar and fire alarm industry with a collection that dates back to the early 1920s and ADEMCO's beginnings as the Alarm Device Manufacturing Co. The assembled collection was donated substantially by Ralph Sevinor, who is the president of Wayne Alarm Systems in Lynn, Mass.
