This nightmare became reality for two Manatee County families after they lost track of their children for mere minutes.

In the most recent case, a mother scooped her 3-year-old boy from the bottom of their backyard pool about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital after paramedics at the scene tried to resuscitate him. No further information about his condition was available.

His mother told deputies she was doing chores as the 3-year-old and his 7-year-old brother played outside their home on the 12100 block of Red Leaf Road in the River Wilderness subdivision, a country club community in Parrish.
