UK-based electric power developer, Powerfuel, is moving forward with its 900-MW integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plant in Hatfield, South Yorkshire, UK, company director Michael Gibbons told G asification News .
Powerfuel also applied to take part in the pre-qualifiers competition for the first commercial-scale carbon capture and storage-ready demonstration plant in the UK.
Powerfuel initially obtained the government's approval for a 430-MW facility but chose to expand the project to 900-MW. It would utilize coal from its local Hatfield mine, with an annual output of 2.2 million tons.
