SYDNEY, July 1 Asia Pulse - Virgin Blue(ASX:VBA) today touted the benefits of its traveller rewards scheme ahead of an announcement later today by rival Qantas (ASX:QAN) about changes to its Frequent Flyer program.
Virgin Blue said its Velocity Reward program, launched in November 2005, aimed to avoid the angst caused by "traditional" programs due to a lack of availability of redemption flight options.
"Velocity's `any seat any time' model has proven to be hugely popular in allowing travellers to redeem their points for any seat, on any flight, at any time, with Velocity's airline partners," Virgin Blue said in a statement.
Virgin Blue also noted that Velocity was free to join online while Qantas charged a one off joining free of $82.50.
