MANILA, July 1 Asia Pulse - Ground-breaking rites were held yesterday for the commencement of work on new buildings at the US embassy compound in the Philippines capital of Manila.
Present at the ceremony with US Ambassador Kristie Anne Kenney were developer Jaime I. Ayala and Jay Hicks of the US State Department officiating.
A time capsule of the construction project, announced by the US. embassy as one of the largest undertaken by the US State Department this year, was planted after Kenney, Ayala and Hicks delivered messages.
Foreign Affairs Acting Secretary Francisco L. Benedicto and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim also delivered messages.
