CANBERRA, July 1 Asia Pulse - Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says he believes in the future of Australia's coal industry, as the debate around climate change hots up.

Mr Rudd talked up the future of the industry while speaking in his home state today, saying: "I'm a Queenslander, I'm a big believer in coal."

"This is Australia's largest coal-producing state and Australia is the world's largest coal exporter," he told ABC Radio.
