NEW DELHI, June 30 Asia Pulse - Exporters of food additive, guar gum, have criticised the Indian Commerce Ministry for forcing them to get samples of their shipments to Europe tested by only one source, a Hyderabad-based private laboratory.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade last week issued an order making it mandatory for guar gum meant for exports to Europe to be cleared by Vimta Lab.
While Vimta Lab is the only Indian agency approved by the European authorities, exporters have said they should be allowed to get their samples tested from certified labs in Europe.
