SEOUL, July 1 Asia Pulse - South Korean stocks opened slightly higher Tuesday as investors picked up auto and shipyard shares, offsetting losses in other energy-related sectors, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 3.02 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 1,677.94 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Auto and shipyard shares led the market advance. Number two shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries advanced 1.74 per cent with top automaker Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors also starting stronger.
