TOM SEAVER, UNQUESTIONABLY the most important player in New York Mets history, received the highest percentage vote ever in balloting for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, 98.6, in 1992.

He is widely regarded as a pitcher of extraordinarily high intellect who combined physical and mental components to produce a stellar career of 311 victories, 61 shutouts, 3,640 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA. Seaver won the National League Rookie of the Year Award and three Cy Young Awards and was a 20-game winner five times. Recently Seaver talked about one of his passions--pitching as an art form.
